Welcome to Art Mistake where visual art meets sound, an Multidisciplinary platform
created by the audiovisual artist and performer Su Eko, who opened voice in the underground
music industry as a songwriter, vocalist and bassist for the band Velvet Kills.

A wide knowledge-base deeply invested in a range of different art skills and
materials merging to realize new realities.

THE BEGGING

Su Eko was born in Lisbon, Portugal. With an early interest in drawing and painting, her artistry developed into make-up techniques and other visual mediums. While studying and working in London and Lisbon she specialized in makeup for media, SFX, cinema and editorial and at the age of 20 became part of the makeup artist team of Lisbon Fashion Week.

IN BLOSSOM

A deep passion for art led her to travel around the world with her work. She was based in New York in 2007 and later moved to Paris where she spent a decade blossoming her creativity and developing her style.

Su Eko’s makeup work has gained recognition for its blends, fresh complexions, elegant lines and contrast of sophisticated grunge styles in her smoky eyes.

PARIS JE T'AIME

Emerging in the French capital alongside the photographers Isabelle Chapuis, Jonathan Segade, Michele Bloch-Stuckens, Thomas Lavelle, Anthony Parmelee, among others.
Her work has been published in fashion magazines L’Officiel, Elle, Número, Blink, Shoes Up, L’Edito, Clear, Kitten Magazine, Edit, Pure, Jalouse, Prim, Kurv, Fault, Dirty Glam, Tendencias, in campaigns for Aridza Bross, Batucada, Benetton, Berenice, CosmoParis, La Loop, Microsoft and on the catwalks of Paris and Lisbon Fashion Week.

IN TO THE GLAMOUR

Represented in 2012 by Carol Hayes Agency in London and Yumikoto in Paris, Su Eko stepped into Paris Fashion Week as the lead makeup designer for Lee Young and Jean Luc Amsler’s Fall/Winter 2012/13 Paris Couture’ shows.

She was also part of Aaron de Mey‘s make-up team for Saint Laurent ‘FW 2013/2014 Paris Fashion Week’ and Daniel Sallstrom’s team for Madonna’s music video Medellín.

She also worked with international celebrities Jerry Hall, Linsay Lohan, John Glover, Zelda Williams, Camille Rowe and Andrej Pedic.

“My career was growing behind the backdrop of the glamourous city of Paris. Although I rejected parts of the fashion industry in its present form, it led me to voice other emotions, support and expand my awareness and talent while struggling in a very capitalistically dominant scene. The best part of beauty is that which no picture can express”

MUSIC SPEAKS

Strongly involved with music, as a bold and fierce romantic, a paradoxical blend of fragility and strength opened her voice in the underground music industry as a music producer, lead vocalist and bassist for the band Velvet Kills, a Synth-Glam-Punk duo.

In 2017 they featured a double release of the album titled ‘Mischievous Urges’ with Unknown Pleasures Records and Oráculo Records. MU was considered by Radio Radar one of the best albums of 2017 in Portugal.

In early 2020, before the world lockdown Velvet Kills released the album ‘Bodhi Labyrinth’ alongside the labels Icy Cold Records, Manic Depression Records and Unknown Pleasures Records, premiering the music video “Bitch Face”  produced by Art Mistake and directed by  Alan Deprez followed by “In The Gold Mine” directed by Fotoplasta and Art Mistake.

In 2021 Velvet Kills released BL Re-Imagine, featuring remixes from Bjoerlin, Lola Zaza, Anyer Quantum and Chris Shape and later on the album Honoris II, a Tribute to Sisters of Mercy and Sisterhood with the track ‘Blood Money’ released with UPR (CD).

“Awakening the labyrinth of our minds to be freed from hate, greed and ego this album brings us to the reality of our actual society.

The messages come coded in Sarcasm, Euphemism, hyperbole and Irony digging into the files of a lonely civilisation and question the purpose of life vs government structures, where we ‘Cash and Move’ and love is forgotten.

Inside the ‘Noise’ of the apocalyptic war, a ‘Hangover Calling’ to the universe to rise humans to a higher state of positive vibration. ‘The Key’ is Love.”
